I love DIY bird baths! This one was designed with a very special friend in mind. It reflects the “natural” essence and beauty of who she is and her love of nature and birds and best of all it has a whimsical surprise!
The vision for this started when I found the platter. What was interesting about was that it originally had 4 glass ball legs but only had one remaining. I decided to leave it – it was so whimsical like a big dew drop and as unique as the person I was making it for.
The base is a vase that stands about 21″ high. It’s made out of a resin and has a wood grain design. I’ve had it for a while waiting to find the right platter and when I did the combination of the two was everything I hoped it would be! Not unlike me and my wonderful friend – they were just meant to be together.
It was a matter of putting a protective clear coat on the bottom of the platter to protect the paint and using Gorilla clear glue to attach the platter to the vase. The hard part is finding the perfect pieces that work together. Just like finding a great friend and realizing together you are the perfect fit.
Happy 60th Birthday Debbie! (Now you need to come into town or I need to get out there so I can finally give it to you!)
