Whale Rock Art: Embracing Nature’s Inspirations

Guest Blogger Tracy Bassett

There is something magical about Vancouver Island with the spectacular views, old growth forests, wildlife, mountains and ocean. Everywhere I go, there are artisans and crafters making beautiful things and embracing natures elements in creative ways. It’s impossible to not be inspired and it wasn’t long before I caught the creative bug!

I found this rock when I was out walking along the shoreline near my home, I knew it would make a great canvas to paint a whale on so after a quick stop at the craft store for some supplies, I spent a relaxing, sunny afternoon turning my rock into my own piece of art.

Rock Art - Painting a Killer Whale
I was so happy with how it turned out and it’s the perfect addition to my beach theme home décor!

Finding the right rock was almost as fun as painting it so if you’re looking for a new project inspiration, give rock art a try!

Big thanks to Tracy Bassett for guest blogging on StarrCreativeDIY. I’m always interested in what inspires people to take on creative endeavors and this is such an excellent example of how creativity really is contagious. Given Tracy now lives where the whales frolic, I loved that she embraced the vibe and incorporated natures inspirations in her project. It’s always a good thing to be reminded that beauty and inspiration surrounds all of us and if we’re open to trying, allows each of us find our own unique, creative way of expressing it. Rock on Tracy!
