Frozen Watermelon and Peach Slushie

Did you know you can freeze watermelon? I buy it on sale in the summer and chop it up and put it into freezer bags. It blends down to the perfect consistency in the blender so no ice needed! This quick and easy to make delicious Slushie is always a hit and you don’t have to wait for fresh fruit to be in season!

I fill the blender about half full with frozen pieces of watermelon and throw in a can of peaches along with the juice. There is something extraordinary about the combination of the frozen melon and the canned peaches together that results in the perfect texture and flavor.

You end up with the most delicious Slushie ever and you can add your favorite liquor too! This is quick, easy and refreshing and is a great hit out at the lake or on the patio on those hot sunny afternoons. If you are wanting a healthier version use fresh peaches instead but make sure they are very ripe and juicy, even then, it’s not quite the same without the sweet canned syrup.

In addition to this tasting amazing it’s easy to have on hand if someone drops by. You just go to your freezer and pull out some frozen melon and then grab a can of peaches from the pantry and a minute or two in the blender and you’re good to go!

Summer, summer where are you?
Waiting, waiting for your skies of blue
Dreaming, dreaming  of sandy beaches
And a big tall glass of frozen melon and peaches.

  1. This is a good summer idea. I remember a California client giving us watermelon slushies when we were doing a huge exterior painting project one summer, and they are extremely refreshing. Will try this at home with the kids.

  2. A friend had mentioned she freezes it and uses it in a base for drinks with other fresh fruit. One day the only other fruit I had was a can of peaches lol so in it went and wow was it a great surprise! So now that’s the only fruit slushie I make because nothing else compare.

  3. I just found out a few years ago and wished I’d know this all along! I’m not a fan of blended crushed ice – always a rouge chunk to bite down on but the watermelon makes this perfect thick texture thats just perfect!
