If you are looking for great ideas for your DIY bird bath, this whimsical platter and vase will hopefully give you some inspiration! The vision for this bird bath started when I found this amazing platter at a thrift store. It was a perfect choice for a “mother nature” approved bird bath. The intricate and eye-catching pattern of the bark design platter, together with this inverted, resin, faux wood-grain vase is a beautiful combination of something old, turned into something new.

What makes this platter even more amazing, beyond it’s beautiful design, is incorporating it’s flaws – three missing legs; likely the reason it was donated to a thrift store in the first place, despite being a signed piece. Originally, it had four glass orbs for legs, but lucky for me, only one orb was left remaining.

It hangs below the platter like a giant dew drop and fits the nature inspired theme perfectly! A one of a kind, whimsical treasure the birds are sure to enjoy.

If there are forest fairies, this is sure to be their favorite hang-out and if there isn’t, the squirrels, birds and butterflies will thank-you just the same.

I used a silicone glue stick to adhere the vase to the inverted vase. It was that easy! This DIY re-purposed platter and vase bird-bath project is definitely one of my favorites.

I hope this inspires you to try turning something old into somethings new. Remember, someone else’s trash, could be your treasure!
